OK. SO. SHG has been ranting about Intercontinental Airport. YES YES YES, it's Bush Intercontinental Airport. I know. Shut up.
Anyway, the rants are correct, but I have figured out that it's all about which direction you're going. Monday afternoon coming in from the BW8 entrance, the signage is OK, to a point, but the design of the road coming from that side sucks. You have to do this u-turn deal to get to Terminal E (why can't we have two garage entrances???), and since there is no accelleration lane on the other side for the newly W-bound traffic, you get a back up of like 40 cars. Anyway, I get through that, and dutifully follow the signs for E parking (note, E is new, I have not left from there before), and get dumped back on the airport road...right by the clusterfuck!! It's a circle! A road to nowhere! Anyway, second time around I ignored the signs and wound up through a guanlet of cones and in the garage. Right near the common opening to the garage for Terminal C. Oh, I could have gotten here from "C" entrance? Gee, thanks numbnuts.
Oh it GETS BETTER! Then, after a near-strip search, I have to pull and OJ and race to the tram and run through the terminals because the plane is actually a wee Embraer and they only dock to the mothership at B. Great. Can we leave now?
SO. Returning. A dream. Off the plane, through immigration and customs, first thing I see when returning to America in the arrivals hall? STARBUCKS! C'est parfait. And it's right next to elevator to parking garage, and voila I am 25 feet from my truck. All in 22 minutes from plane to truck, including a "random" search at customs... random my ass, it's all my middle east visas and stamps, I always get searched. And this time, a 36 hour trip to Mexico? Hell, I'd search me.
