Whilst driving in Denver, I suddenly realized I had only seen one support our troops style ribbon on a car! By the time I was having my last smoke at the terminal, I had seen only three. I was not looking for them - just counting. I had driven about 100 miles. Today, I drove about 100 miles and counted ribbons, again without seeking them out...I counted 17. OK OK OK, not a statistically-valid, properly-designed, control-group kind of thing, and Houston is a little more than twice as big, but still...welcome to ribbonland.
I guess that might explain why they grate on me so much, and some of my friends from elsewhere are like "Dude, why do the ribbons piss you off so much?"
