Last year when Hurricane Ivan loomed over New Orleans (but veered off to the east at the last minute), I happened to drive through The Galleria here in Houston.
The Galleria area is normally a bit of a mess at best, grindingly bad traffic at worst.
That day it was the Christmas-Clusterfuck. Only worse: A vast sea of cars with Louisiana tags, understandably lost, confused, and not nearly aggressive enough to make any headway against the Houston Blitzkrieg on Westheimer.
So, for now, whether you're from Houston or Louisiana or Alabama, avoid the Galleria. Go to Katy Mills or The Woodlands Mall. Better yet, go do something non-commercial.
