it's not just a big melting ice cube

As oil prices keep going up up up (we have a pool at work as to when it hits $100/bbl, I say Christmas), going for natural resources in tough environments is becoming more and more economic. What is interesting to me is that countries are now starting to lay claim to some of the last unexplored parts of the Earth, like bits of Antarctica.
 
Of course, I can see duh-bya's reaction to this: Why don't they just take it, like i-rack?
