Some firsts

this does not suck

Took Friday afternoon off and took the boat out with HSG. Weather was really nice. This was the first time I had the boat out in a year. This was also the first time out with the new truck, it really pulls the rig well. Backing it up it is a bit of a challenge since the gearing of the steering is progressive, but I'll learn that with time. When it was sitting in the staging area before we put it in, I decided that the whole thing looks like an English cottage being chased by a porpoise.
Anway, the boat started right up! No need to jump or infuse with starting fluid. That Vortec engine is such a good machine. Really had a good time, nice and low key. Got the "I want to drive around the lake" bug out of my system, then just hung out in a cove, watched the skiers/boarders, drank some beer, listened to tunes. I really needed it. I have not wanted to take it out for so long, it hit me what mess things had been at home and for how long. When I lived in Dallas I really enjoyed all the time spent on the water, and then there were the great excursions out to Travis outside of Austin. It's such a great way to spend time with friends and just decompress away from things.

Stayed on the water about 4 hours, then loaded back up. It was so nice to be out when nobody else was - no idiots at the ramp! Thus, no ramp rage! HSG took to the winching procedure very well, he's so smart.
Came home and I was going to cook. Well, the steak was still frozen. Chinese? Sorry, we stop deliver at 9. WHAT?! OK, pizza. Well, after a day of sun and beer, the carbs were just the thing to cause a headlong crash. A really, really good day: Good weather, good setting, good company.
